Mr. Tavares Tiron Brown

SAVANNAH - Mr. Tavares Tiron Brown "Huge" 48, passed away, January 1, 2026. He was born in Savannah, Georgia, on December 13, 1977, to Julia Mae Brown Shaw and Donald Bryant, both of Savannah, Georgia. He was affectionately known to many as “Huge". Tavares received his early education through the Chatham County School System and Sacred Heart Catholic School. He graduated from Herschel V. Jenkins High School in 1996, where he proudly played varsity basketball. His talent and dedication earned him a full scholarship to South Carolina State University. He later transferred to Armstrong State University, where he graduated in 2002. Never one to stop pursuing excellence, Tavares continued his education by earning his master’s degree from Cambridge College in 2005. He later received his Educational Specialist degree from Nova Southeastern University in 2008 and began his doctoral program, striving to grow, lead, and inspire others by example. Tavares gave his life to Christ at an early age. As a young boy, he attended Saint Paul CME Church building a strong foundation of faith and fellowship. Tavares began working at an early age at River Street Sweets and the Frank Callen Boys & Girls Club, where he built lifelong relationships and touched countless lives. He also worked with the City of Savannah Recreation Department for many years. He dedicated 22 years of service to the Savannah-Chatham County Public School System, retiring in 2024. During his tenure, he was affectionately known as “The Science Guy” and was admired for his willingness to help anyone in need. He founded the Employee Relief Fund (ERF) at Hubert Middle School, a reflection of his servant’s heart and commitment to supporting his colleagues. He was preceded in death by his beloved grandmothers, Earline Myers, Fredricka Brown-Nelson, and Alberta Dockery; his aunts, Annette Brown Robinson, Patricia Scott, Queenie McBride, and Barbara Davis; and his favorite uncles, Richard Bryant and Ronald Bryant, Sr. Tavares leaves to cherish his memories: his loving parents, Julia Mae Brown Shaw and Donald Bryant; his daughter, Ms. Kayla Hall; his beloved fur babies, Masters Maximus and Miles Brown; his sisters, Latasha Barnes and Sandra Shaw; his brothers, Grady Shaw, Jr., Tiron Valdez, Jason Austin, and Lavon Landry; his nieces and nephew, his aunts, and a host of other family members, friends, colleagues, and loved ones. Tavares lived a life of purpose, service, faith, and love. His legacy will forever remain in the hearts of those he taught, uplifted, inspired, and loved.
