Mrs. Bertha Pearline Hutcherson Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

SAVANNAH - Mrs. Bertha Pearline Smith Hutcherson, 82 entered eternal rest, Wednesday, March 23, 2022 at Saint Joseph's Hospital. She was born on May 18th, 1939, to the late Mr. Herbert and Mrs. Neller Best- Smith in Allendale, SC., the eldest girl of fifteen children. She received her education in the local schools of Chatham County. Bertha accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age and joined Saint James Baptist Church. She served faithfully on the Usher Board, Mother Board, Pastor's Aid, and Deaconess Board. She worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant at Candler Hospital for 25 years until her retirement. She then went on to work for the Low Country Health Department and retired after 10 years. Bertha was known to her family as Pearline. She enjoyed spending time with her family. Pearline is preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Herbert and Neller Best-Smith; her late husbands, Ollie Ruth, Hercules Grant, and Walter Hutcherson; five loving siblings: Hattie Mae Grant, Neller (Azalene) Mathis, Diane Smith, Delores Bryan, and Herbert Smith Jr. Her life, memories, and her willingness to help others will always be remembered with respect, love and cherished by her loving family members: two daughters Dr. Wilhelmenia Smith-Manning and Retired E-5 Sergeant Arlene M. White; one step-son, Earl Grant (Renee), five grandchildren: Re'Andra Reid (Craig), Rhett Manning, Rakeila Manning-Dunbar, Raphnee Manning, and Raphael Manning, seven great grandchildren: Tyre Robinson, Rayshawn Robinson, Malina Robinson, Garrhet Manning, Rahnay Burroughs, Alexandria Manning, DeZahri Dunbar, and Raphael Manning Jr., two great-great grandchildren: Tahari Robinson and Raina Robinson, three brothers: William Smith (Mable), Gussie Smith (Sherry) and Otis Smith (Linda), six sisters: Lillie Smith, Mary Register (Al), Cynthia King (Frank), Barbara Rhodes (Todd), Jessie Parker (Stanley), Betty Hawkins (Courtney), very special extended family members: Mr. and Mrs. Kentah, Jamilla Gray and Melissa Thompson, a special niece: Shanell Bryan and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, church family and many friends. IMPORTANT: It is requested that a mask must be worn appropriately by all that are attending the services FOR THE SAFEFY OF EVERYONE, regardless of vaccination status.
