Mrs. Elizabeth F. Williams

SAVANNAH - Mrs. Elizabeth F. James Williams "Betty" age 75 wife of Mr. Jerome F. Williams entered eternal rest on Friday, February 7, 2020 at Pruitt Health-Seaside surrounded by her loving family. She was born to the late Evelyn Stoney James in Patterson, New Jersey. She was affectionately called "Betty" by her family and friends. She was a educated in the schools of New York and was a graduate of Morris High School Class of 1961. After high school she entered the Adelphi University where she received a Bachelor of Science Degree (Social Welfare) on May 24, 1981. She earned her Master of Science Degree at Fordham University on May 25, 1985 both in New York. Later in her adult life, she moved to Savannah in 1984 and joined Bread of Life Church of God In Christ where she served as Mother of the church. She later attended Historic First African Baptist Church with her husband, Jerome F. Williams. While in New York, she devoted her time to many organizations, including Elkdom, Invincible Temple #77, the Purple Cross Nurses Unit, White Roses Tents, Samuel Moore Council 54 Ladies of Night and Eureka Chapter #19 of Eastern Stars. Elizabeth work experience included: Bronx State Hospital, Memorial Medical Center, Tideland Mental Health Center, Savannah Men’s Transitional Center, Georgia Department of Correction, Georgia Department of Family and Children Services, and Hospice Care. She received many achievement awards after serving for many years. She is preceded in death by her mother Evelyn Stoney James; one sister, Lorraine Harris, a brother, Melvin C. James, one grandson, Jeff J. Miley. Her life, memories, smile, and willingness to help others will always be remembered and cherished by: her husband of fifty-five years, Jerome F. Williams, of Savannah; three daughters, Melvina C. Williams (Robbie) of Charlotte, NC, Jerine F. Williams Wiggins (LaVanne) of Savannah; and Tanisha D. Tripp (Kevin) of Port Wentworth; three step-daughters; Lynette Dunlop, Chyrassie Green (Eric) and Jackie Williams; four sisters; Barbara Beauford of Bronx, NY, Georgia Ann James of Brooklyn, NY, Jacqueline James, Evelyn Merry James both of Bronx, NY; 16 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, god-daughter, Bridgette Boler, host of nieces, nephews, cousins other relatives and friends.
